B. Micand

Bernard Micand brings to Executive Solutions extensive business insight into the high technology, service, process manufacturing, and energy industries. As a global team leader, he has successfully tackled turnaround situations, managed engineering groups, and merged international organizations. He provides particular intelligence regarding robotics, process automation, electrical motors, and pressure and temperature transmitters.

Before coming to Executive Solutions, Micand served as general manager of ABB Automation France, a $185 million division of ABB Automation group in Switzerland. He restructured the division with employment reductions, managed research and development areas, and redesigned customer offerings. He previously had presided over the merger of several diverse businesses to create ABB Industrie, a $100 million business offering total automation solution packages. At ABB Industrie, he directed the optimization of internal working processes from business development to after-sales services, and redesigned the working relationships of suppliers, vendors, and customers to strengthen the company's supply chain.

Earlier in his career, Micand entrepreneured an innovative sales activity for ASEA to enhance the sales of its power transformers, circuit breakers, and MV-LV switch gears. He also served with Alstom of France in its HV power transformers division.

Micand is a native of France. He earned his undergraduate electrical engineering degree from Hautes Etudes Industrielles in Lille and his MBA from Institut d'Administration des Entreprises in Paris. He also successfully completed an Advanced Management Program for seasoned executives at INSEAD in Fontainebleau (France), the most prestigious business school in Europe.

He is an active member of the Rotary Club in Lyon, France, and has conducted missions for the Rotary Club in South Carolina. He is a frequent visitor to the United States, both professionally and personally.
